Honeyyyyyy! If you are a huge JVN fan, as I am, you would have been ecstatic to hear that our love bug Jonathan Van Ness, of Netflix's Queer Eye, was releasing his memoir. This television show reboot was SO necessary, especially with a wider understanding of gender-fluidity and more diverse idols in the mainstream.
Jonathon was a crucial element to the show, as each of the Fab Five are. However, JVN is definitely a fan favorite. As publicity for the book began, it became public that Jonathon was also diagnosed with AIDs. Having such a fabulous person that is loved by millions openly say that he was diagnosed with a disease that is fear by and misunderstood by even more, was jarring for many.
That part of his life was a very small portion though. We can a peak into the struggles and successes of Jonathon; We get to see the various different personalities he has. We only get to see one part of it on television, but there are so many different aspects of our favorite TV personality - hence the book cover.
Not only are we invited into his life, we also get some lovely anecdotes for self-love and self-care. Through his own reflections filtered through a more emotionally intelligent version of himself, we get these lovely tales of love, joy, doubt, and courage.
I believe that this is a MUST READ by JVN fans and non-fans alike. I not only learned more about the nature of gymnastics, I also learned about the evolution of self-love. If you get a chance to grab a copy not Over the Top, i deem it mandatory to do so!
